Welcome to the REAL Florida where the banks of the St. Johns River provide you endless sightings
Welcome to the REAL Florida where the banks of the St. Johns River provide you endless sightings of Florida's incredibly amazing natural wonders. Here, time has mastered a way of standing still since Ponce De Leon first landed 500 years ago. In addition to the peaceful, gentle UPSTREAM direction of the river's flow, you will see everything from alligators, manatees, herons, egrets, osprey, otters, turtles and even the occasional bear, deer or American Bald Eagle. But most-importantly, when fishing on this river you can land anything from bass and crappie, to even a sting ray! Yes, you read correctly... sting rays, striped bass and even sharks have been known to find themselves on the hooks of fishermen who call the St. Johns River their own little slice of paradise.
Our bait, tackle and outfitter store is but a mere 500 feet from the entrance of Ed Stone County Park. This park and it's boat ramps are located at the base of the Francis P. Whitehair bridge (SR-44 aka New York Avenue) so getting your live bait and tackle (especially wild shiners and grass shrimp) no longer comes with the risk of also being stressed-out by the time you jump on your boat. You can stop-by our bait shop on your way to the boat ramps or if you prefer, simply put-in at the park and when exiting the lagoon make an immediate left turn downstream to our docks. If you call ahead on your cell phone, we even provide valet dock-services of delivering your bait and tackle, ice and other supplies right to you on your boat so you never have to touch dry land again until you have caught your daily-limits! The park sports ample parking for both trucks and trailers, provides bathrooms and even oak-shaded picnic tables for those who prefer to remain on dry-land and fish from the seawall of the park.
So bring your boat and spend a morning, afternoon, entire day or even a whole weekend with us! And after landing that trophy-winner, you can moor your boat right next door and grab a cold one with some frog’s legs or even fried catfish at the Shady Oak Tavern and Restaurant.
